A 5-day residential programme which addresses not only diet, but all areas of one’s life.
Under the guidance of experienced macrobiotic teachers and counselors, this seminar is helpful for individuals who wish to optimize and maintain good health and a happy life.
Macrobiotics has helped thousands of individuals to support their successful recovery from a wide range of illnesses including heart diseases, cancer, diabetes, arthritis, digestive problems as well as many other emotional and behavioral disorders.
PROGRAM:
Daily exercise such as yoga, qi-gong as well as cooking classes, hands-on practical cooking, ginger compresses, singing and chanting, foot massage and shiatsu: all these help you to invigorate your energy and clean your body. You will learn basic techniques on diagnosis as well as practical lessons discussing yin and yang energies.
You will come out of this week refreshed and inspired! You will learn elementary cooking techniques as well as how to organize your kitchen. Once you have experienced the benefits of our tasty meals and the variety and richness in taste, you will find it easier to continue at home with a healthier lifestyle

Way to Health:
The ‘Way to Health’ study programme gives you an opportunity for change, whether you want to recover from an illness or simply wish to improve your vitality or work-life balance. We usually view our health issues as temporary distractions from our daily life. However, it may be our daily life itself that is the cause of the problem. The ‘Way to Health’ programme gives you an opportunity for ‘time-out’ from daily life, to take care of yourself in a constructive and beneficial environment.
• In the cooking lessons you will learn how to prepare what is suitable for you, you will gain practical understanding of preparing a balanced macrobiotic/vegan meal, you will receive tips on how to modify or change your diet and on how to prepare quick meals or lunch boxes.
• There will be tteachings on the basic theory and understanding of nutrition
• You will learn the basic theory on how to assess your personal condition through oriental diagnosis
• You will also learn various treatments, such as ginger compresses and medicinal drinks
• One afternoon in the TAMINA SPA***** of Bad Ragaz, enjoying the thermal waters discovered by Paracelsus
• Mountain walk, herbal walk
• Evening lectures (and afterwards night campfire & singing, overlooking the impressive mountains and the valley)
Macrobiotic Way of Living:
If you would like to study the more philosophical aspects of holistic life, you can join the macrobiotic study program, called ‘Macrobiotic Way of Living’.
• Introduction into macrobiotic philosophy and yin & yang
• The biological evolution
• Study of the 5- Transformations: Qi, organs, emotions, tastes a.o.
• Nine Star Ki Astrology: understand yourself and others and discover how to deal with relationship problems
• Two cooking classes, using local mountain herbs, seasonal veggies and plant-based protein dishes

The Venue:
The holiday home ‘Prodkopf’ lies at 1600 m in the midst of a mountainous walking area. It can be reached only by cable car from Ragaz-Pizol (hours from 8:00 till 17:00 - www.pizol.ch). Nature, peace and silence surround the hotel. All rooms have hot and cold water - the showers and toilets are to be shared. The hotel also has a beautiful terrace that overlooks the valley.

Teachers:
Jan Vervecken (°1949)
Jan Vervecken is the director of and a teacher at the International School of Shiatsu in Belgium. He was inspired by Michio Kushi in 1975, decided to study in Boston for one year, with Michio on macrobiotics and eastern medicine, and with Shizuko Yamamoto for shiatsu. He started working as a shiatsu therapist and continued to study in Japan, at the Okido Yoga Dojo with Master Masahiro. In 1986 he followed the full program (level I to III) of shiatsu at the International School of Shiatsu in Kiental, Switzerland, with its founder Saul Goodman (USA). He was asked by Saul Goodman to lead the branches of the International School of Shiatsu in Belgium and Holland, teaching in 5 mayor cities. He teaches in Belgium, Holland, Switzerland, Spain and Japan. Together with his wife Mieke he has raised 6 children.
Mieke Vervecken-Pieters (°1952)
Mieke Vervecken-Pieters studied languages, literature and philosophy. After becoming seriously ill at age 18 she started studying yoga, macrobiotic cooking and eastern philosophy. Mother of six children (aged between 18 and 29), she has 36- years of experience in cooking. She studied in Antwerp, London, Switzerland and Japan. She ran the Okiyoga Dojo in Antwerp from 1983 till 1990. She started The Natural Cooking School in 1990. She has worked on many projects, has written articles for the media and has done T.V. appearances. She has trained cooks in Belgium, France and the United Arab Emirates. For 12 years she was the chef of ROSAS - P.A.R.T.S, the dance company and school of Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker, in Brussels. She is appreciated for her enthusiasm, creativity and knowledge of the Japanese cuisine.
Guest teacher: Mario Binetti (°1952)
Mario Binetti first worked as a primary school teacher and specialised in education for handicapped people. He did studies in Eastern Philosophy and Macrobiotic Medicine and Nutrition. He is the founder and head of several macrobiotic centers and restaurants, as well as international macrobiotic summer camps. In 1985 he founded the International Macrobiotic Institute in Kiental, Switzerland, which also hosts the International Shiatsu school. Since 1982 Mario has been an experienced teacher of Oriental Philosophy, Oriental Diagnosis, Macrobiotic Medicine and Life Style. He was the director of ‘Kientalerhof’, Centre of Wellbeing and Creativity, in Kiental, Switzerland. Today he works as a freelance teacher.
